Regular Visits to
the Dentist can save you money!
Regular check-ups ( at least every 6 months) are the main ingredient in a healthy smile. Dental health care starts when that first tooth comes in! Preventative dentistry combines at home care by patients with dental education, counseling and treatments by dental professionals.
Seeing your dentist regularly will allow them to catch decay or other diseases in the early stages. Fixing the small problems as they come up is much cheaper than fixing a big problem. Most dental conditions are painless at first and without regular dental visits you may be unaware of the problem until it has caused significant damage. The difference in cost for a small filling versus a root canal and crown is hundreds of dollars. To completely restore a neglected mouth will cost anywhere from $30,000. to $100,000.
The most
important prevention technique for home care is brushing and
flossing at least twice a day.
Even better if you can brush after every meal. Brushing helps remove plaque that forms on your teeth. If it is left on your teeth it will
build up and form dental tartar.
This is a hard substance with acid producing bacteria that will cause
tooth decay and eventually lead to gum disease. Start brushing your child’s teeth as soon as they come
in. As they get older work with
them to maintain good oral hygiene.
Dental
cleanings and x-rays are recommended every 6 months to remove dental plaque and
stains that normal brushing and flossing
will not remove. X-rays
enable your dentist to see any
signs of tooth decay between the teeth or any problems below the gum line that
are not visible just by looking in your mouth. Call us for routine cleaning appointment!
